I am a fully Qualified Secondary School Teacher (Science). Over the last 10 years, I have been involved in Private Tuition in the areas of Mathematics and Physics for Exam/College Preparation as well as University Level Courses. I have experience in the UK (GCSE & A-Levels), the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Physics (SL/HL) and Mathematics (SL/HL), the Australian (Year11 & 12) School System as well as Oxbridge Admission tests (PAT/STEP). Furthermore, I have worked as an Academic Researcher (Theoretical Particle Physics).

Professional Experience
I am a full-time Private Tutor in Mathematics and Physics. A large part of my work is related to University Level tuition but also the last two grades of High School (exam preparation).

From my placements in UK and Australia I have extensive experience and knowledge in teaching 1st and 2nd year Physics courses, such as Classical Mechanics, Classical Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, Calculus, Statistics as well as more advanced 3rd and 4th year subjects, such as Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, Optics & Lasers, Particle Physics, Special and General Relativity etc.

We are researchers of language learning and teaching theories. We have adopted proficiency-based instruction method, the newest and most innovative method of foreign language instruction in current use. This method differs from older, more traditional teaching methods, in that it emphasizes personalized, student-directed instruction with the teacher as facilitator. We develop students%u2019 communicative skills by performing task-based activities, with topics based in Brazilian culture, familiarizing students with prospective real situations, rather than the instruction and discussion of grammar rules. The grammatical features of our language are introduced through an inductive approach, which encourages learners to draw conclusions about the underlying rules of the language from the many examples they see and practice. We believe that where many older instructional methods teach students to talk about the language, a proficiency-based approach teaches students to talk in the language.

I expect the student to inform me of the issues to be discussed before each tutorial (for example: motion, vectors, forces, etc.) so that I can make proper preparation to ensure a high efficiency in the 2-hour duration and make the tutorial more oriented.

I would always like to use graphs and examples to demonstrate the knowledge on textbooks to make the principles or theories easier to understand and memorize.

I will ask the students to go through several typical and comprehensive questions related with the knowledge taught in the last tutorial, as the beginning of each tutorial. In this way I can figure out if the student really mastered the knowledge. If not, I don’t mind to re-go through the previous knowledge before starting a new topic.

I pay more attention to the way how the students solve questions, rather than just the results as the method will be extremely beneficial for the student not only in physics. In the mean time I will also check that the students will not make careless mistakes in their calculations to avoid losing unnecessary points in exams.

In each tutorial, the schedule is designed as follows, but more flexible rather than fixed:
15~30min: Questions for last tutorial
10~20min: General review of the key points
60~80min: Step by step solving questions on the textbooks
Rest: Conclusions or further discussions

I have demonstrated my educational ability in various institutions around the world stretching from London to the Middle East since the early 1990s. I have in depth knowledge of my subject areas; hence i find creative ways to help my student relate to the subject material. I can teach anybody no matter how academically challenged they are, provided they want to learn.

I am first of all, naturally clear-minded and prize clear thinking. Mathematics are, so far as I am concerned a mere language with its lexies ("words") and sentences. It is often said that I possess a god-given ability of deciphering and discriminating difficulties that people oftentimes encounter in Maths and supply them with the clearest explanation there could be. My philosophy may be perhaps summed up in the followings : "Everything that is complicated is said to be so, because it is made up of simple elements" Complication has then a borrowed Existence, borrowed from the simplicity of elements from which it has been formed, as Leibnitz (German philosopher) would have added. Mathematics are in effect complicated but are in fact simpler than saying hi!
