ALL CHILDREN LEARN AT DIFFERENT PACES AND SOMETIMES FALL SHORT WHEN ASKED TO PERFORM AT A PARTICULAR TIME. A CHILD THAT DOES NOT GRASP A CONCEPT AT A CERTAIN POINT WILL BE ABLE TO MASTER THAT CONCEPT AT A DIFFERENT POINT. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE TUTOR IS TO STRENGTHEN SKILLS THE CHILD ALREADY POSSESSES AND HELP THE CHILD PROCESS NEW MATERIAL PRESENTED.

As yet I have no paid teaching experience, but I have always tutored friends and family, including my sister for her history dissertation. I have been paid a couple of times for proof-reading, and have proofread documents for lawyers. I have a very high level of accuracy of expression, a good deal of patience, and a knack for explaining complex ideas

I still find my school history teacher very inspiring, both for how I express myself and for how I teach others. He was very clear about how to write good essays: clarity, coherence, and content (in order of importance, but all fundamental). When I Review somebody's work, I concentrate first on making sure that their ideas are clear and obvious to the reader. I then ensure that the ideas are set out logically. Only then can the content of the essay shine through

However, content does not come from nowhere. In explaining any subject, I start big and work down to the smallest details. For example, history is home to a series of grand debates, such as free will vs. fate. From their I could narrow the focus to revolution - do people revolt because they want to or because they are forced to? From their, a student could approach a classic exam question like "The 1917 Russian Revolution was the will of the people. Discuss." with a mature attitude to joining the great conversation of history.

I expect the student to inform me of the issues to be discussed before each tutorial (for example: motion, vectors, forces, etc.) so that I can make proper preparation to ensure a high efficiency in the 2-hour duration and make the tutorial more oriented.

I would always like to use graphs and examples to demonstrate the knowledge on textbooks to make the principles or theories easier to understand and memorize.

I will ask the students to go through several typical and comprehensive questions related with the knowledge taught in the last tutorial, as the beginning of each tutorial. In this way I can figure out if the student really mastered the knowledge. If not, I don’t mind to re-go through the previous knowledge before starting a new topic.

I pay more attention to the way how the students solve questions, rather than just the results as the method will be extremely beneficial for the student not only in physics. In the mean time I will also check that the students will not make careless mistakes in their calculations to avoid losing unnecessary points in exams.

In each tutorial, the schedule is designed as follows, but more flexible rather than fixed:
15~30min: Questions for last tutorial
10~20min: General Review of the key points
60~80min: Step by step solving questions on the textbooks
Rest: Conclusions or further discussions

I come from Russia, but I haven't lived there for almost a decade (although even when I did, I was spending most of my time traveling abroad). I adore English and use it as my primary one. I have degrees in engineering and psychology as well as a certificate in language proficiency. Speaking about SAT, I prepare for both verbal and math sections, and my students get a 95+ percentile score. I teach a combination of best exam strategies, such as Black Book, Princeton Review, and Kaplan. Also, I've got dozens of excellent Reviews in Russia, but would like to provide tuition for students from Germany as well.

My experience teaching English as a Second Language constantly challenges me to teach more effectively. I've learned and refined a small set of exercises that I've found to be useful for most of the students I've taught. These are exercises for reading, speaking, listening, and writing. I should emphasize here that although I have a set of exercises that have worked for me, I am open to the idea of different teaching styles should a student request to be taught in a specific way. Aside from these exercises and how I implement them, I also believe I add value to a student's education by focusing teaching on the acknowledgement and correction of mistakes. As a tutor, I am committed to continuous learning for myself and work every class to provide sufficient homework to challenge a student. I complete all of the homework that I assign.
